HTC Vive celebrated its first anniversary on April 5th with a “Vive Day” extravaganza. “Vive Day” also signified the launch of Viveport Subscription, and HTC is thanking year-one customers for their strong support by giving them all a one-month trial of Viveport Subscription and a download of the company’s Arcade Saga for free.
“The marketplace for Vive apps has grown at a tremendous pace with more than 1,600 titles now available across different app stores and over 30 new apps launching daily,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport at HTC Vive. “The rapid growth of the app market is a win for VR overall yet it can present discoverability challenges that affect both customers and content creators. Introducing a subscription model to VR is a natural evolution of where this market is going, and as film, music and TV have proven, it’s becoming the preferred way customers want to explore and experience entertainment content.”
Viveport Subscription is the first-ever subscription model launched for a VR app store, giving consumers a unique way to play games from the VR marketplace. For $6.99 a month, gamers can play up to five games at a time. Once that month ends, players can: select to play five different games, play their five previously chosen games, or mix and match the previous games with a few new ones.
Xsolla is proud to be the exclusive partner of Viveport Subscription, helping to bring the excitement of VR to Viveport gamers around the world. By working with Xsolla's subscription service, HTC is providing its users with relevant payment systems that enable players to easily subscribe to Viveport.
