Leading Question: Why is it important to focus on your business model early on?
Turkey has proven to be a major player in the gaming industry. With a gaming population of 22.5 million, approximately 61% of those gamers regularly purchase online games and in-game goods.
According to recent reports observing the spending behavior of 37 million paying gamers (SuperData Research), the Latin American digital gaming industry is booming at an astounding $4.5 billion with projections of 16% growth year over year.
There has never been a better time to focus on Latin America as everyone is racing to get their foot in the door and grab a piece of the pie that is the digital games market. Latin America is forecasted to grow to $5.3 billion in 2015 (SuperData Research). One contributing factor in this growth is the popularity of MOBA games, such as League of Legends, which currently dominates the online gaming sphere within Brazil. According to research, the average amount spent by any given gamer within Latin America equates to approximately $90.
“Our generation grew up with couch multiplayer. Crash Team Racing, Mario Kart, Micro Machines and Mashed were some of our favourites,” - says Michael Davies, Lead Gameplay Developer of Space Dust Studios.
Conveying a very relatable message, Michael shows that inspiration can come from many different forms, even sprouting from a nostalgic aspect that was once part of our lives.
